<p>Relaxation must be total, complete. It&#8217;s essential for any of the seven techniques of astral projection to be successful. The inability to relax is caused by fear. It&#8217;s common among those just learning these techniques. The fears are the result of false beliefs that maybe harm, or even death could come to the person who is trying astral project. To help alleviate those fears the Canterbury Institute conducted and researched a study. The Canterbury Institute is well know for their studies of the occult.</p>
<p>Two thousand people were included in this study, all of the two thousand participated in the studies of the seven techniques of astral projection.. The findings of the institute confirmed that not one person, using the seven techniques of astral projection, were harmed in anyway. Even more important, the people in this study have also been followed during the past three years and not one person has complained of any problems.</p>
<p>Now that any fears or concerns should be put to rest, it is time to take a look at a few different astral projection techniques that are fairly easy and have been successful for a lot of people. The first is what is known as the Monroe Technique. There are seven main steps to this astral projection technique:-</p>
<p>* You must first relax your mind and body. There are several techniques that can be used for relaxation. An easy one to do is deep breathing, calmly and slowly. Deeply inhale and then deeply exhale. Then relax every muscle throughout the body one at a time by tightening them and then relaxing them, start at your toes and work your way up through your body.</p>
<p>* Enter into the hynagogic state. This is simply the where your mind and body are bordering going to sleep. You don&#8217;t want to go to sleep. You can use the gazing method to do this. Focus on an object as you lay in bed, and keep staring at it until your eyes close and you are still able to see the object.</p>
<p>* Once you see the object with your eyes closed you are going to need to deepen the state you are in. The best way to do this is to look around (keeping your eyes closed) and see what you can see. It is possible that you may see different light patterns, you may notice that the room is cloaked in a purple light. Don&#8217;t pay to much attention to it, once you stop seeing the light you will know that you have entered a deeper state. You are so completely relaxed at this point that you will no longer be aware of your physical body. This is important according to the Monroe technique of astral projection.</p>
<p>* From what Monroe says, this is the most vital of the seven techniques of astral projection. The state of Vibration is the next to accomplish. People who have practiced the techniques of astral projection have noticed they feel these vibrations early into the projections. These people believe the feelings experienced is believed by them that this is the feeling when the astral body leaves your physical body. Nothing to be alarmed about, it is the vibrations you feel.</p>
<p>* Now control the vibration while in this state. Focus, make the vibrations move through your body. This is done with your mind. You want to feel the vibrations through your whole body. Like waves washing over you. Practice this until you can feel the waves anytime you want them. When you can create waves on demand successfully you are ready to leave the body.</p>
<p>* A vital component to successful astral projection and astral travel is control. Having control is that the one in power, is your mind . Monroe recommends practicing a &#8220;partial separation&#8221; to strengthen this control. Keeping mentally focused on leaving the physical body. Starting with a part of the body, like a foot or hand. Let it go the astral body. Stretching it to reach an object near you, maybe the wall, floor or another familiar object. Push your hand or foot through. After accomplishing this return your foot or hand back to the physical body Now you start to slow the vibrations and end the session. Lay down until your body has returned fully to an awakened state.</p>
<p>* With this step you will finally leave your body. Follow steps one through six. This time your whole body will be used, not just a foot. Move completely into your astral body. A simple adjustment to step six is required. This time you are focusing on releasing the astral body instead of one appendage. Focus on releasing the astral body Thinking how light it feels. As weightless as a cloud, you can float like a feather in a light breeze. Now the astral body should move out and away from the physical body, you feel as though you are floating, or even flying.</p>
<p>There are more ways you can attempt this, as in the Gazing Method, the Anchor Technique, and the Rope Technique. Try out some different methods to discover which one will be best for you. An astral projection technique exists for everyone.</p>

<p>It simply cannot be stressed enough that total relaxation is vital if you are to achieve any measure of success with astral projection. The inability to relax seems to be more prevalent between those just starting out, largely because of fear. For the most part, this fear stems from the misconception that one can be harmed, or even die, because of the actual projection. Interestingly enough, the Canterbury institute which is renowned for their occult studies, conducted specific research in order to eliminate these fears.</p>
<p>All the people who took part in the research had participated in astral projection and institute determined that not one of those people were harmed in any way after having followed the various techniques. In order to do this, you should keep your eyes closed and start looking around, taking note of all the things you can see. During this stage it is not uncommon to see various light patterns and a purple glow. However, one shouldn&#8217;t pay too much attention to this but instead, one should stay focused until such time that the light disappears. Once you no longer see the light you will have moved into a deeper state of relaxation. By this stage you mind and body is so relaxed that you will more than likely no longer be aware of your physical body.</p>
<p>* Likewise, this next step is also to vital according to Monroe. Here you will need to enter into what is known as,&#8217;the state of vibration&#8217;. Interestingly enough, most people who practice astral projection claim to feel the vibrations at an early stage of the projection. In fact, most of these people believe that these vibrations occur just as your astral body begins to separate from your physical body. Once again, this is perfectly normal so there is no reason to be alarmed when it happens.</p>
<p>* Controlling your state of vibration. In order to control the vibrations one should focus on moving them through your body. Using your mind, you should attempt to spread these vibrations over your entire body so that it feels as though there are waves washing over you. You need to keep practicing this until such time that you can bring on these waves whenever you choose, and once you are able to do that, you&#8217;re ready to leave your physical body.</p>
<p>* It is undeniable that the key to successful astral projection and astral travel lies in having control, in that it&#8217;s your mind which has the power. In fact, Monroe actually recommends that you practice partial separation in order to strengthen your level control. While maintaining focus on the concept of leaving your physical body, one should first only allow a hand or foot to separate. When you can do this you should go ahead and attempt to stretch them towards an object nearby, whether you choose the wall, the ceiling, or even a random item in the room. If you manage to do this successfully then you should allow your hand or foot to return to your physical body. Now go ahead and begin slowing down the vibrations in order to bring your session to an end.</p>
<p>* This next step involves total separation from the physical body so once again, following all the previous steps, you now attempt to release your entire body rather than only a hand or foot. This stage is practically the same as partial separation apart from the fact that you now want your entire astral body to separate from your physical body. In order to achieve this you should be focusing on just how light your body feels. Ideally, you should imagine your body as being totally weightless, as if it were made of feathers which are blowing away on a breeze. As your astral body leaves your physical body you will experience a feeling which could be compared to floating or flying.</p>
<p>Other methods and techniques include the Anchor Technique, the Gazing Method, and the Rope Technique. Ultimately, one should be willing to try the various techniques in order to establish which one works best for you, because you can be rest assured that everyone can find a technique which works for them.</p>

<p>We will assume right now that you know what the astral body is and what the astral plane is. The purpose here is to offer a few different ways to learn how to astral project. Astral projection is a personal experience, so it is important that you figure out which techniques will work best for you.</p>
<p>This first method is easy for most people, and you do it just as you are getting ready to fall asleep. It is a very simple five step technique.</p>
<p>*First, before you go to sleep make sure that you completely relax your body. You want a deep state of relaxation. An easy way to do this is to lay in bed, and starting with your toes tense and relax each muscle. You want to work your way up your body, each muscle all the way to your face. At first, this may seem uncomfortable or your body may feel very heavy. There is nothing to worry about, this feeling is present because your body is not used to being this relaxed.</p>
<p>*Second, you need to deepen and slow your breathing. There is a technique that is used for meditation, and what you want to do it breathe in deeply and pay attention to the way the air feels as it enters your lungs and moves down through to your diaphragm. Then you exhale completely, slowly and as you feel the air leaving your lungs and going out of the body you are relaxing your body and mind. It is important that as you breathe in deeply that you do not fall asleep, to help avoid falling asleep you may want to focus on the center of your forehead.</p>
<p>*For step three, evaluate how your body feels. Is it heavy? Imagine your body is a lump of clay that does not move easily. Now, think of your astral body it feels so light. It is weightless floating free. Close your eyes and envision your astral self. It feels so light it could float easily like bubbles or feathers carried by a breeze. The contrast is the physical body feels very heavy, while the astral body feels light as a feather.</p>
<p>*Now is when many people who use this technique report that they are able to see the dark room then are in even though their eyes are closed. The room seems to be cloaked in a purple light. If you are able to get to this step then you need to focus your attention on the ceiling light.</p>
<p>*For the fifth step, imagine that you are pulling the ceiling light toward you. As you pull on the light, you will most likely feel like you are floating. It is very important to remain awake. Now that you are aware of the floating sensation, you may be able to look down on your sleeping physical body on the bed.</p>
<p>There you have just had a successful astral projection! Now you can begin to travel through the astral plane. If this method did not work for you, you may want to try this next technique.</p>
<p>This method is called gazing. Try this at bedtime. You need something to focus on, such as a picture, the moon, a crystal, or some other object.</p>
<p>Once you\&#8217;ve chosen your object, lie down and get comfortable. Turn your attention to the object. As you keep staring at it, your eyelids should begin to feel heavy. No matter what, keep staring at the object. While your eyes will tend to close eventually, you should still be able to see the object. While you continue to stare, you may feel the urge to sit or stand up. When you do get up, don\&#8217;t be surprised if you see your physical form peacefully asleep.</p>
<p>If these techniques don\&#8217;t work for you the first couple of times, don\&#8217;t get discouraged. Try them again. If they still don\&#8217;t work, there are other methods to try. It is imperative that you don\&#8217;t get frustrated. This will only cause anxiety and make it more difficult to relax completely so you can achieve a successful astral projection.</p>
